Hydrological Forecasting at EGU 2020: (5+1) things not to miss

The EGU 2020 Annual General Assembly will take place from 4–8 May 2020; however this time we will not be able to physically meet in Vienna and the event will instead take place remotely. Nevertheless there are ways to get updated on the recent scientific insights and developments and also to virtually socialize with friends and colleagues.

To make EGU 2020 and the hydrological forecasting subdivision a big success this year too, here are 5+1 HEPEX activities we initiated that you won’t want to miss!

(1)  Keep the tweeting going! It is ON.

Use different tags (i.e. #HEPEX, #shareEGU20, #shareEGUart etc.) and tweet about HEPEX-related work and chats (find us on twitter @hepexorg and tag us!). We’ll be retweeting our favourites, and we are also in search of the most popular screenshot/photo within the theme: “Tweet a photo of you while chatting during the EGU week, working from ‘home office’, or ‘dressed up for the EGU week’“, so let the competition begin!

(2) Join the HEPEX@VirtualEGU Apero. Who said that we cannot socialise?

We will have a 40’ virtual social meeting on Wednesday (6th May) at 18.00 CEST to chat and laugh. Simply join Zoom using https://zoom.us/j/91666876492. It is a social event so have your own glass of wine/beer/soda (it would be difficult to share!).

(3) Contribute to the HEPEXmusic Spotify playlist

It is true that we now have a HEPEX Spotify playlist, named HEPEXmusic. Feel free to add your favorite song and enjoy listening during EGU 2020 – click here listen & add your song!

(4) Back to the HEPEX WhatsApp!

Continue texting and commenting on presentations using the HEPEX@VirtualEGU WhatsApp group. You can also share your twitter photos here!

(5) Join the HS Division and Subdivision meetings and the Union Symposia

The Division meeting on Hydrological Science is on Tuesday (5th May) at 12.45 – 13.45 CEST.

The Subdivision meeting on Hydrological forecasting is on Thursday (7th May) at 18.00 – 19.00 CEST.

Information about the Union Symposia can be found here. Feel free to join them all!

(6) Contribute to the sessions on hydrological forecasting. And shine!

  1. HEPEXmusic playlist on Spotify!! This is brilliant! Fun finding songs with a HEPEX theme (haha)… although, one in particular aptly named “Ensemble” might be best for a virtual afterparty!
