HydroCast – Hydrological Forecasting and Data Assimilation

HydroCast is a joint research project undertaken by a project team of fifteen research scientists, three PhD students and three end-users across ten institutions lead by Henrik Madsen (DHI). In the HydroCast project new forecasting and data assimilation tools are developed and tested that combine different on-line data sources with meteorological and hydrological modelling for provision of probabilistic hydrological forecasts, covering short-range, medium-range and seasonal forecasting.

The tools are tested on three test cases but they will be generic and applicable in a wide range of cases. The cases range from flood forecasting to water management and will be studied for two different catchments in Denmark.

  1. This looks like a nice demonstration project, and it will be interesting to see the results, and how the methods and findings compare to other work that has been connected with HEPEX over the years. Looking forward to another posting when you are starting to get results.

  2. Thank you for your comment Andy. I will be more than happy to share our findings. More information will come on a next post for sure. Cheers!
