Topics:
The Workshop will be structured around panel discussions, oral presentations, poster sessions, and plenty of opportunity for discussions and sharing of experience. We invite you to participate and contribute on the following suggested topics:
- Latest achievements in seamless hydrological ensemble prediction systems (HEPS): from hourly to seasonal forecasts, from flood to drought forecasting.
- Challenges and solutions of verification and post-processing: what is finally working well and what isn’t?
- Accounting for model structural uncertainty: how valuable the combination of multiple models or structures is to science and operational forecasting?
- Best assimilation schemes for better initial state uncertainty assessment: impacts on forecast quality and predictability of hydrological extremes.
- User experience on the value of (imperfect) HEPS in decision-making: when model outputs meet human expertise.
- Today’s operational challenges of HEPS implementation.
- Communicating hydrological uncertainty to end users and the public.
- Training strategies to help hydrologists and users decipher the complexness of HEPS.
